Another Death

3 years ago, daddy passed away...
Several months back, a friend's father passed...
Just yesterday, one of my best friend lost her mom =(

Every time I hear of a close friend losing someone, especially a parent, my heart will start to beat faster, and I get into this panicky mode that makes me want to fly over to wherever they are and give them a super big hug that will squeeze away all the sorrow and provide some warmth and comfort, however little it may be, without saying a word. It's impossible to do that, I know. So I grab the nearest huggable thing I can find. It takes a while to calm myself down. I guess it just brings back certain feelings that I try so hard to bury.

It's going to be exactly 3 years in 2 days. A lot has changed since, and we are adapting in various ways. I think I can safely say that we're doing pretty good so far, and I hope it will continue to be good. For all those who have lost someone, it is important to know that things will be ok =) There's always someone out there who cares ♥ Be strong!

p.s. Daddy, if you are looking over me...please let me find an awesome job soon XD

It was just my luck that there was a roadblock near my house on New Year's.

It was just my luck that he might have been trying to flirt.
It was just my luck that acting like a stupid bimbo and begging worked in my favor.
It was just my luck that I didn't drink a lot.
It was just my luck that Bibi was with me.
It was just my luck that Bibi's brother happens to be a traffic police.
It was just my luck that the police officer didn't issued me a summon.
It was just my luck that the police officer didn't ask for a bribe either.

I've used up my year's worth of luck within the first few hours of 2012 -_-''

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Christmas is one of my favorite festive season even though I'm not a Christian and don't really celebrate it as it's suppose to be *haha* Maybe it sort of marks the end of a year, and that a new one is going to begin soon; or simply an excuse to drink, party and just chill with friends =P I'm in an extremely Christmassy mood today so I've decided to share my Christmas songs for this year =)

I'm sorry I've neglected you for almost 4 months =( I've been really busy and stressed with assignments/exams, and all the piled up backlogs are too intimidating to even peek at =S I've shown Tumblr more love over the past 4 months and it's now time to make it up to you ♥

So first things first, I've decided to write off all my backlogs and start anew =) There are simply too many to even start catching up on, and by the time I'm done with them, I'd have accumulated a new bunch of backlogs -.- Since I'm also starting a new life with uni coming to an end, starting fresh would be a good start =D I'm too lazy to start an entirely new blog, and I still feel somewhat attached to this current one, so this post will mark the end of the "old" blog and the beginning of the "new" blog ^_^

Cuti-Cuti Malaysia: Penang

Took Aeroline up to Penang this time around.

They've totally upgraded since the last time I took them. They now give you a blanket in addition to the small pillow, rice meals and personal in-bus entertainment! It really feels like you're on a plane, and the seats are so much more comfy than your average economy class passenger aircraft =)

I finally got to see Bibi and Ivy again like what?? After 3 years??!

I miss being in high school and being crazy XD

Welcome to Straits Quay

The place feels so ang moh *LOL*

Other than the cute Charlie Brown decorations, there's really nothing to rave about this place because everything we ordered SUCKS! We didn't try their main course and stuff, but I doubt it'll be any better.

Visited the original T-Bowl Concept Restaurant in Queensbay Mall. All I can say is it's worst than the one in Sunway Pyramid =S The lighting is too dark and the drinks and dessert were sickly sweet...it SUPER SUCKS!

Out of the three concept stores we went to, Clinic Café has the most acceptable food. It's not great but they are definitely better than the other two. It could be due to us only ordering the fried snacks and drinks, so I can't say for the rest of their menu options.

Some things just don't change...

Mee mamak at Bangkok Lane. It's a bit wet for my liking but the taste is not bad, and I really like how they added small pieces of cuttlefish inside for texture. There's however one thing with this place though, their service attitude is really TERRIBLE. It took them half an hour to get our order done just because we ordered one large plate to share amongst the three of us. The worst thing was they came to our table to confirm our order 3-4 times when Boon Hoe already went to order at the stall before we even sat down. Just because you serve good food doesn't mean you can bully your customers! >_<

Went to Viva Local Food Haven (东城饮食中心) for some good old hawker food. I finally got my fried oyster *wee~* ^_^ The oysters as you can see in the picture is quite huge compared to the usual ones you get in KL or even Gurney Drive, and it was relatively cheaper too =) We ordered grilled stingray as well, which was really good especially with the additional sauce YUM! But I only remembered I've forgotten to take a picture when the fish was half demolished, so I didn't bothered XD Didn't really like the 卤面 (loh mee) Boon Hoe got because there's one kind of taste to it, and I forgot what David ordered because it was nothing special *haha*

That wraps up the end of my Cuti-Cuti Malaysia to Penang.

Kung Fu Panda 2

It was my second time at Pavilion since it's opening. Had lunch at Grandmama's (the prawns in their 生虾河粉 - sang har hor fun were HUMONGOUS), and window-shopped around. Pavilion is SO not my place. All the branded stores are there with all their nice stuff on display and a very nice price tag attached to each and every item =_= How I wish I can sing ♪It's not about the money, money, money...forget about the price tag♪ at the top of my lungs and make it come true. Some people are just not born with a silver spoon in their mouth *sigh* =(

Watched Kung Fu Panda 2 at the GSC in Pavilion. I thought it'd have cost more than usual, but surprisingly they charged a pretty standard price. The seats are by far the best cinema seats I've tried. I've never been to their Gold and Premier Class cinemas so I can't compare, but the standard ones in GSC Pavilion were pretty darn comfy seats compare to your usual GSC seats elsewhere =P

Kung Fu Panda 2 was pretty good. I really like the graphics and the Oriental design and style of the backdrop and setting. There were a few really funny and cute scenes which I really like *hehe* However, I find that they frequently spoil the emotional scenes with inappropriately timed humor. It's like you are trying to get into how the characters are feeling and suddenly they pop in a lame joke -.- Other than that, it was pretty good, though not as good as Rio for me. Rio is still the best cartoon of the year!

Went to Fahrenheit 88 for the first time that day. There's nothing much there except Uniqlo and Sephora. The mall doesn't exude the type of atmosphere you get in Pavilion either. It feels empty and deserted inside. Even though I can't afford anything in Pavilion, I'd prefer it over Fahrenheit 88.

Final stop of the day was at Mid Valley. I can't remember the last time I've visited that many malls in one day *LOL* Had some supposedly Japanese soft-shell crab in Thai-style tasting sauce at Sushi Tei for dinner =S I find their chicken katsudon nicer; the breaded chicken had this unique taste to it which you don't usually find elsewhere. Didn't try any of their sushi, but they have uni (sea urchin) there!! Gonna go back to try their uni sushi someday *hehe* =P

500 Days of Summer

This is quite an old movie, but I only knew about it after reading Jeanette's post. From the way she described it, it seemed quite interesting and relatable so I decided to watch it. Little did I know, the movie was way more relatable than I've imagined, to the point that it was a little scary. It even made me cry, twice! For those who know me, you should know that this is very abnormal. But then I guess sometimes you just need to let it out. Re-watched P.S. I Love You the other day and cried as well (I didn't the first time), so maybe I was just stress and in an emo mood. Anyway, 500 Days of Summer really had an effect on me (that's why it's worthy of a full blog post!). It is hard to describe what happened, but maybe you'll get a hint of how I felt by understanding what I thought about Summer and Tom.

SUMMER

Most people I've talked to thinks that Summer is a heartless bitch. I don't blame them. However, I find that she's only the way she is because of her insecurities, which was what made her so stone cold at times. She seems so carefree in the movie, doing whatever she pleases without a care in the world, as if nothing could harm her. A bit selfish, but then who isn't. I'd have thought she was a woman with an ice-cold heart as well if it were not for the scene where she brought Tom to her place and told him her secrets, and the park scene. If only I could wake up one morning like Summer and just know.

TOM

He appears to be very emotional and vulnerable, which earned him lots of sympathies. I didn't expect to relate to him as much before watching the movie, but surprisingly it wasn't hard to. He was so madly in love with Summer that he didn't see it wasn't the case for Summer, even though she had explicitly told him so from the start (one of the reason why I don't think Summer is a bitch). It's just so heartbreaking to see Tom after Summer left him. Though I find him a little pathetic at times, maybe that's just what being lovesick and heartbroken is like. If only I could believe like how Tom believe.

Many say that it is a sad movie with an unhappy ending. I beg to disagree. As the tagline says "This is not a love story...this is a story about love" and that is exactly what it is. Tom taught Summer to believe in love. Even when he said he had stop believing, it was only because it hurt too much. I think everyone has a little of both Summer and Tom in them, regardless of how much they deny it. One may have more of Summer or more of Tom in them, but both will always be present.

I actually have so much more to say about this movie, but it's getting really late and I'm getting sleepy. So I'm just going to end it here before I end up writing something stupid. ~~Who knows I might come back and edit this some other day.~~ Read a related post here.

Chilling at Chiling

I've been wanting to go to Chiling for such a long time!

A bunch of us finally made the trip last month during Labor Day =D

Wondering why I still have a long face?

Because Viran and I was the first to arrive at uni >_<

Luckily we had access to the med building *muahahaha*

After mamak breakfast, we started our journey to Kuala Kubu Bharu.

I forgot how long it took us, but it was quite a distance lar...

Ready to conquer the treacherous path to the waterfall!

This was one of the easier water crossings,

so we still had smiles across our faces.

Check out what happened when it got tougher XD

The current was so strong it washed away Viran's flip-flops!

But some nice people picked it up downstream and informed him.

So the prodigal flip-flops returned to it's owner on his way back =P

erm...was actually quite disappointed with the waterfall...

but I guess after Rainbow Waterfall, anything else will just be inferior =.=

Didn't really know what to do after being disappointed =(

So went to climb some rocks and trees *haha*

Movie Backlogs

Yes, unfortunately there are movie backlogs as well *sigh* So let's get on with it before I get sick and tired of all my backlogs...

The Final Chapter of Saw VII turned out to be rather disappointing. The blood was too fake and it was predictable. It just wasn't as smartly played out as the previous Saws. I guessed maybe they focused more on the 3D element this time around.

This didn't meet my expectation as well. Chicago (my all time fav musical!), Moulin Rouge, Phantom of the Opera and even Coyote Ugly (might be a bit bias with this one) beats Burlesque anytime. The only thing that saved the movie was definitely Cher's and Christina Aguilera's singing and the songs.

I honestly don't know why so many people thought this movie was disturbing beyond belief because it was so not for me. I admit there were a few parts that were slightly messed up, but it was hardly disturbing to the point of creepiness. Maybe I don't really understand the movie that well. It was just weird for me.

A very cute movie overall, not one of the best, but good enough. Little Agnes and the minions were simply adorable. Totally loved the Mini Movie - Banana XD

I'd take the Ocean's series any day over this. I mean what was with everybody dying in the end man? It started off cool, but just totally lost it towards the end.

Wasn't as good as I expected, but wasn't terrible either. The concept is pretty original, I really like the idea of destiny vs. free will. People should have the right to choose how they want to live their life and not be controlled by some higher being, or even other people. It's actually one of the reason why I don't like the idea of having a religion because all of them tend to talk about destiny, fate, karma and whatnot which I think can be circumvent by free will that everyone technically should have.

It was a cute cartoon, but not a very good one. The ending was totally cliché and utterly terrible. If it wasn't for all the candies and chocolates and stuff I would have really not like the movie >_<

Thanks to Jeanette's recommendation, I've watched one of THE WORST movie EVER in HISTORY. It was just so terribly bad that it wasn't even funny. I'm not even going to go into any details of how bad it is because it was just BAD!

An interesting movie. I kind of want to read the book, I think it'll be good read. I really like the saying of "dolce far niente" and "attraversiamo". The soundtracks are pretty good too =)

Watched this because I saw June wrote about it on her blog and I just simply had nothing to do. It's a pretty sweet movie I guess. Parkinson's seems really scary =S But OHMYGOSH Jake Gyllenhaal's ass! XD I don't really understand why Anne Hathaway had to bare her boobs sooooo many times in the movie, I mean she has nice boobs (yea I'm jealous >_<) but I just find it a bit too much. I mean she's a good actress; she'd have more than enough audience without showing her boobs that many times. Though I guess I just justified her actions with that comment about Jake Gyllenhaal's ass *haha*

As of now, this is the best cartoon of the year!! Everything is so colorful and nice ^_^ It had a good storyline with enough drama and funny parts, and the soundtracks went really well with the movie. Totally love "Let Me Take You To Rio (Blu's Arrival)" by Ester Dean and Carlinhos Brown ♥

AWESOME MOVIE! Despite a few parts that didn't make any logical sense, the movie was good. Love the cars, love the speed, love the action, and of course Paul Walker!!! He's a little bit more roughed up in the movie but still hot nonetheless XD I still remember wanting a life-size chocolate Paul Walker for Christmas when Fast & Furious came out *LOL* Can't believe I missed the hidden ending after the credits man thanks to my brother =_= Guess there'll be a Fast & Furious 6 then~

Leo Backlogs

There's no denying that there're way too many backlogs this semester for my blog, especially with all the assignments and everything. It has been a tough sem =( and I guess it doesn't help that I spend quite a lot of my time on tumblr now. I'm addicted to the extent that I sometimes check it a few times a day on my phone throughout the day! For those who don't know...I FINALLY GOT MY NEW PHONE!!! ^_^ It's a sexy Samsung Galaxy Ace with a cute red rubber cover =) Might write a n00b review of it if I feel like it after more fooling around with my new baby =P

Ice Kacang Puppy Love vs. Love in Disguise

Both movies were directed by directors who were originally singers, and probably will remain singers.
Both directors were also the main lead in the movie.
Both movies can be considered as romantic comedies.
Both movies were released in 2010.
Those are most likely the only commonality both movies have.

初恋红豆冰 (Ice Kacang Puppy Love) grossed USD1,344,496 and 恋爱通告 (Love in Disguise) grossed USD8,665,577 according to Box Office Mojo. Although there's a considerably difference in the numbers for both movies, both were great success in their respective country. 初恋红豆冰 has one of the highest local production box office records in Malaysia and 恋爱通告 broke the highest box office records in China for a first-time director.

In terms of numbers, 恋爱通告 no doubt owned 初恋红豆冰. But in terms of plot, acting and the movie as a whole, 初恋红豆冰 totally beats 恋爱通告 in my opinion.

初恋红豆冰 set in retro Malaysia with small little details like the Indian roti-man gave it a lot of kampung feel, which I really like because it feels more homey =) The characters were all really cute, jolly and funny which is always good to have in a feel good movie =D Being a Malaysian-made movie, of course it had food in it, like the fried kuay teow, Hainan coffee, and the most important ice kacang =P If you know me, any movie that touch on food can't be terrible XD It also featured art, as in drawings which I'm also a sucker for. So 初恋红豆冰 really hit all the right notes for me. The storyline, despite not having your typical type of happy ending, was really nice. It not only managed to captured the feeling of puppy love which is fleeting and sweet, yet unforgettable. It also showed how we must work towards our dreams and goals because it won't just happen. I simply love this movie. The best Chinese local production by far! It's sad how such a good movie is finding it difficult to break-even though most of the actors/actresses got little pay in support of 阿牛 and the local film industry =(

恋爱通告 set in modern time Shanghai didn't really connect with me despite having stayed in China for nearly 5 years. It's probably due to the fact that it was too metropolitan in 杜明汉's world and the traditional folk music and Chinese art university which made up 阿得's world isn't really my thing. I feel the characters didn't really grow and develop in the movie, unlike in 初恋红豆冰. I didn't like the female lead; she was a bit stupid and lame compared to 打架鱼 in 初恋红豆冰 which I reckon has more personality and character. The plot was boring and predictable, and the bad CGIs just made it worst =S You'd have imagine with the money from all those in-your-face product placement, they'd hire better graphics designers -_-'' The only reason I can think of for why the movie is such a huge success is because 王力宏 is in it =.= I swear all those zoom ups on his face are on purpose (I don't deny I didn't enjoy them XD). He seemed like a pretty good kisser too in the last scene *LOL* However, the presence of the few lines alluding to how he might be gay is really questionable. I wonder if that's why I didn't feel the chemistry between him and the girl. It would also explain why he kept singing 多的是, 你不知道的事 and he always 需要人陪 *hahaha*

Umami Steamboat (甜味火锅放题)

It's very seldom and rare that the full set of OMEs get to gather. This time around we even got two new members to join us — Tze Mien who came back from the land down under and Sandy the exchange student from the land down there too XD

We had our first OMEs outing of the semester at Umami Steamboat (甜味火锅放题). I find the place quite okay as they have a rather wide variety of shellfish and enough variety of seafood, which was basically the only stuff I ate other than all the different mushrooms and a few other stuff *LOL* I especially love the scallops ♥ They have pretty nice beef and lamb too, though I find them a bit reluctant when it comes to giving it out, so if you are a big meat eater I'd recommend Chong Qing Steamboat Buffet (重庆麻辣自助生锅). They have a BBQ and grill outside as well, but the variety is lesser than 口味锅 Tasty Pot Restaurant (which has nice BBQ lamb and bad everything else -_-'') and only the satay was nice. It tasted sweet (the sweetness is different from the usual satay sweetness) and the meat was tender. One important piece of information: DO NOT GET THEIR CHICKEN WING! They probably have the worst chicken wing I've ever tasted. It was super dry and just *blargh*

If you are a fan of all those usual fish ball and steamboat-whatnots, they have a pretty large variety of those. Sandy was so amazed by all the colorful stuff she almost couldn't bare to eat them *LOL*

We got the tom yum and chicken soup base for our steamboat. The chicken soup one is just okay, but I really like the tom yum one as it wasn't too sour or spicy that you can keep drinking it *hehe* ^_^ They also have a D-I-Y 沙茶酱 (shacha sauce) station that I find pretty cool. I've never tried 沙茶 before and actually don't know what it is, so I just simply mixed a few of the ingredients together. I don't know whether what I made was really 沙茶酱, but it was really yummy *hehe* =P

Unlike most steamboat places at Sunway Mentari, they don't have round tables at Umami. We had to merge two separate tables together and had two different pots. I was actually quite glad we had two different pots since those at the other table just threw everything and absolutely anything into their pot till it resembled a mess of something I can't even begin to describe =S

They also stopped eating while we were just about halfway through and started camwhoring =_=

After dinner, it was of course time for dessert! Their ice cream was really nice. It didn't taste like the cheap ice creams you usually get for buffet, and they were colorful! *hehe* ^_^ When our tummies started to ache from too much food, we played Truth with the chopsticks and laughed till our tummies ached even more XD It was really good to finally have all the OMEs together again =)

Other than going out, I finally found some time to catch up on my reading as well during the summer. I've already blogged about The Zahir, so here are two other books I've managed to read.

Summer Fun

It's the end of Week 2 today, and what better way to motivate/depress (I know I'm being ambivalent >_<) myself than blog about all the awesome happenings during the summer that I left out XD

My Chinese New Year was pretty much really boring this year back in hometown. I have no idea why, but I just wasn't in the CNY mood pretty much the entire time I was back =( The feeling was just so different, and I felt like such a stranger in that town this year =S Some say it's because I've grown up, and things like growing up kind of does this thing to you whereby you stop enjoying festivals and holidays you once loved. But I beg to disagree, because after I got back to KL, it felt so much more like CNY with all the visiting etc.

One of my very few reunion dinner that I had this year at Cubes courtesy of Mr. Chew =)

I really don't know what happened, but this year is the year where I had the least CNY dinners *sigh*

First visiting stop at Shu Shan place, and my first gambling session of the year believe it or not =.=

Second stop at Han Yin's amazing house of mirrors *LOL* and Michelle's place.

Third was June's surprise birthday at her place thanks to all the Oscar-winning actors/actresses *wakakaka*

My place was next ^_^

Then Shu Shan's farewell came =(
We all had food literally up to our throats at Bumbu Bali,
and it was the last time most of the Leo family gathered together with her at Weng Howe's place.

Don't the food looks just AMAZING? They may look great here, but the taste is FAR from what you'd expect. Thanks to the deceiving lens of the Nokia N8 that manages to make highly unappetizing food looks heavenly.

The buffet was a TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT *boohoo* They hardly have any variety of sushi and sashimi as most of the stuff were cooked. Their fish were not fresh and their tactic is to stuff you full of cheap and tasteless carbs so you'll order less. I only like one of the tofu dishes, but got sick of it rather quickly as we had a lot of other tofu dishes with the same type of tofu but a different sauce =_= The best was probably the ice cream with cornflakes XD We go to a Japanese buffet and asked repeatedly for cornflakes *LOL*

CONCLUSION: The place SUCKS! DON'T GO THERE! And don't be fool by the nice looking pictures from other blogs, as that was what happened to us.

I always become like this when I read these kind of damned books. Maybe it's an attempt to feel like I understand literature that I actually don't understand at all. Or just an excuse to feel like I am actually a hopeless romantic in disguise with deeply buried emotions. Either way, this will only be temporary. I know I will just forget about all these in the next few days *rolls-eyes* Therefore, please don't take what I write next seriously unless you've read the book and feel the same way, which would mean that I really am not crazy =_=

After turning the last page, I feel that I do not deserve a piece of that bloodstained cloth from the unidentified soldier. Even though I had experienced that sense of loss for a while, it did not last. I don't feel the energy coursing through my veins, though I longed for it. It must feel wonderful. I still do not understand. However, I know that in order to understand I need to find myself. I need to first know what I really want, and what really makes me happy.

So my quest now is to journey through life in search of the answer to this fundamental question:
"What makes me happy?"

Started reading The Zahir the day before, just because I felt like reading something, and it seemed like a good read at that time. I've started the book before, but never finished it for whatever reason I have forgotten. Usually it's because it's boring for I don't understand it, especially with books such as The Zahir. But today, about two-thirds through the book, I started to realize something, or rather I felt something. I know I usually get into a sort of state when I read, especially with these kind of books. But the feeling today was very peculiar, which is why I am writing about it now. It left me feeling like there's something empty inside me, things are emptying out. It's not a very pleasant feeling I must say, but it sort of gives me hope that maybe if things are emptying out that I can start to let things in, which I'm usually afraid of doing. It's a very weird feeling I must say. Maybe Paulo Coelho's book are really as spiritual as they say, though I certainly did not remember feeling this way when I read The Alchemist. I have yet to finish The Zahir, I don't know how I will feel when I turn over the last page. But as of now, it really is having an effect on me. The hole in the heart feeling is so great that I even have to put a pillow over my chest in order for me to continue reading, though it doesn't really help much as the feeling still remains. I thought by writing about it that it may go away, but I can still feel it right now. It's a very weird feeling indeed. I really hope I can understand the true meaning of The Zahir by the end of the book. Till then, I'll just have to wait for the epiphany or whatever and continue reading.

p.s. I'm not crazy.

Double Double Birthday

Pre-Birthday

My lovely scandal ♥ Shu Shan couldn't bare the thought of selling me off to some random fisherman at some secluded kampung port in Klang so we arrived at Perlama Seafood Restaurant instead XD It took us quite a while to find the place since it was really secluded. We ended up having lunch at 3pm if I'm not mistaken =S

The place is actually quite nice, as it had that kampung by the sea feeling, though not everyone can take the pungent dirty/salty seawater smell swirling around. Being a kampung girl myself, growing up in Kuala Terengganu and Kuantan, living mere minutes away from the sea, the smell had a weirdly homey feel to it *LOL*

The soup in both dishes were pretty good, and the Lala Clams were nice and juicy.
Middle: Stir-fried vegetables and Claypot Tofu
I can't tell if they put MSG in the vege but it was so good even the vege-hater Shu Shan liked it.
The Claypot Tofu was the most disappointing dish among all.
Bottom: Salted Egg Crab and Coconut water
Loved the salted egg on the crab YUM!
The coconut water sucked because it was too old, so the flesh was really hard.

I totally admit that I didn't get it half the time =_= It's probably about the innocence and wild imagination of childhood or something along those lines. I guess Alice's Adventures in Wonderland along with Through the Looking-Glass is not such an easy read after all. It's like an extended version of the Jabberwocky to me, except I could read and understand more words XD It's simply too deep for me in the literary sense, I think I would like to stick to the Disney adaptation thank you very much =P

Not really a fan of this movie. The best part was probably all the French and Angelina Jolie's earrings XD They are soooooo pretty!! When Johnny Depp revealed himself it was just such a WTH moment for me =_= The whole movie was just a bit weird in my opinion. You can also see the age of Angelina Jolie in the movie. She is getting old... Overall, not a movie I would recommend.

Goodbye to the last of 2010

Met up with Jin for dinner at Trattoria Cucina Italiana on Christmas Eve.
It was nice to finally meet again and catch up =)

Don't be fooled by the mamak-looking exterior and kitchen.

Their food is pretty decent as everything is freshly made.
I really liked the beef tenderloin with potatoes and cherry tomatoes (top left).
The prawns (bottom left) were okay, it had A LOT of spinach to go with it =_=
The gnocchi (right) was really cheesy, but apparently not chewy enough.

Their desserts were SUPERB!
Especially the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream (left).
We finished it within minutes!

This was my favorite!!
chocolate + liquor = ♥
What more can a girl ask for?

The total bill came to RM288.65 (including 4 other drinks I didn't mention) for the three of us.
FUCKING EXPENSIVE would be very appropriate for three unemployed students -_-''

We couldn't make it for the countdown as my brother and I had to catch the train back.
So we celebrated by pouring overdue beer down the toilet instead -_-''

Had post-Christmas turkey dinner with Fabian and his family at Étoile Bistro, Equatorial Hotel.

Got a really cool present from Amy and Fabian too ^_^
I really ♥ it!

Hello to the beginning of 2011

Everyone was celebrating New Year's Eve with family.
So it was just the four of us, plus Viran's spirit XD

We had steamboat dinner at Chong Qing and went to Solaris for countdown.
The fireworks were soooooo pretty~

We had our celebratory drink at Berlin Biergarten after the countdown.
It was pretty funny how Shu Shan got drunk after just one cup of Long Island Iced Tea *LOL*
So not going to give her anymore alcohol after this incident -_-''

2010 was a great year, may 2011 be a great year too =)

Just Us and Penang

I'm too young to feel this old (or am I?), but it just feels right to write this post like this...

On one very fine day,
six young people decided to drive an old car all the way to Penang,
just because they felt like it.

They wanted to gobble up all that Penang had to offer,
so they ordered fried kway teow, fried oyster, and hae mee a.k.a Hokkien mee
everywhere they went until they got sick of it, literally!

There were lots of other food too of course,
but I'll reserve the review for another post when I come around to it.

For now, it's just the story of six crazy young people
who were courageous enough to go into a bar with shorts and flip-flops XD

Being young and full of energy,
they hiked to a far away beach just because they can.

Even though they are all different in their own way,
it did not matter because it was their free spirit that unites them.

May all six of these young people live a fruitful and awesome happy life always =)

Last two movies for the year 2010

This Harry Potter movie is probably by far the best one out of all the others. There were good action scenes, funny scenes and a scary scene that managed to scare me and a bunch of girls sitting behind -_-'' It wasn't draggy and all the important parts were included (or maybe I just forgot the detailed story from the book XD). The only let down was that it's only Part 1, and thus had that left-there-hanging ending that I don't like.

Tangled is really nice! It was very light and funny and just plain nice *hehehe* and Pascal was SUPER CUTE of course =P I really don't have much bad comments about this movie. The only reason anyone would not like it is probably because they are not genuine Disney fans so whatever~

YouTube kept removing the videos due to copyright so this version doesn't have the dialogue =(

This is like my favorite scene from the movie. It was simply ♥MAGICAL♥ I couldn't stop smiling throughout the whole entire scene, like literally! IT WAS AMAZING! I totally loved the lights from the lanterns and the song and everything! Disney TOTALLY got it's magic back! The magic that makes Disney movies what they are =)

Malaysian Studies Field Trip

Thanks to the super smart government who wants to make all their citizens super smart, I am super fortunate to be forced to take Malaysian Studies this summer. Luck has it that I got a super enthusiastic lecturer for the course too, and he thought it would be super nice if we all went for a field trip to the Perdana Leadership Foundation at Putrajaya for one of the Perdana Discourse Series talk on "Higher Education in Malaysia: Increasing Access and Quality", which was organized by University Teknologi MARA.

In case you can't read the fine print in the picture, it says sponsored by Proton. No wonder we got nasi lemak + kuih for breakfast before the talk, a break with REALLY BAD coffee in between and a buffet style lunch with super sweet syrup bandung (one wonders why they keep showing those "eat less sugar or you'll die" ads on national TV -_-'') at the end. ATTENTION all tax payers!! This is where your money really goes! To benefit the country and its people with such educational and informative talk that would bring Malaysia one step further in terms of development.

Pradeesh's smart thinking got us awesome seats outside the hall where we were able to talk crap and do whatever we want XD See those sad people, especially those VIPs at the front row on the projector screen? They just woke up from a very nice nap =) You can literally see the changes in their sitting position throughout the talk *HAHAHA*

I'm not even exaggerating when I said the talk was super educational and informative.
It was SO GOOD it even made Tun Abdul Razak cry (look carefully at the picture) *LOL*

The coolest thing there that truly caught all our attention.

Since we were getting bored outside and the media people left,
we decided to go in for the panel and Q&A session to enjoy the nice seatings and air-con.

I made fun of a girl camwhoring while we were outside the hall, but I just couldn't resist myself because the chair was just SUPER AWESOME!!! It was like THE BEST chair I've ever sat on in these kind of venues. You can even lean back on it for god's sake. They don't even have these kind of chairs in the cinema man! I now know why the VIPs were enjoying their nap so much XD

The Climb, Up Broga Hill

Most of us went over to Weng Howe's house to sleepover on Friday night before the climb, just in case we couldn't wake up in time XD Though some of us end up not being able to sleep the whole night at all due to certain alien invasions and weird sounds -_-'' We left for Broga around 4.30a.m. the next morning in hope that we could catch the sunrise.

Arrived at the first peak, while it's still dark.
Too bad the pretty view behind could not be captured =(

This is either the second or third peak, I can't remember.
Since the Halloween-looking trees were in the way, we decided to climb up to the last peak.

Probably the best view we could get slightly below the last peak.
The last peak was already jammed packed when we got there =(

I was really disappointed actually *sigh*

I have quite a few backlogs but I don't care because today is Christmas Eve. I'll just finish them off in the new year XD Guessed my resolution to ~~stop~~ cut down on procrastination didn't really happen =P I don't really celebrate Christmas but I like the merry feeling it always brings =) Everyone around becomes more joyful and happy, people make wishes, there are pretty decorations everywhere, and I start wishing for the impossible *haha*

El Cerdo

El Cerdo, nose to tail eating at ~~Werner's~~ Audrey's Place =P

Went to El Cerdo at Changkat Bukit Bintang to celebrate Piggy Audrey's belated birthday with Jaime and Jeanette. The place is really nice with lots of pig decors. They even had little stools for us girls to put our handbags, which was really considerate =) The overall experience was really good except for the fact that the waiters/waitresses were a tad bit too attentive.

We took AGES to make up our mind on what to eat so the waiter suggested we ordered some drinks first *LOL* I ordered the Cooler Sunset Dream (right), a kind of cold tea that tasted really nice =) The one on the left is the orange juice that Jeanette got.

Complimentary bread with bacon bits and mushroom soup with even more bacon bits are served after you order your meal. The soup comes in a cup, so the portion is small. They also give you a teaspoon instead of a soup spoon for the soup which I don't really fancy because it's a bit too small.

We took on the waiter's suggestion and ordered this plate of homemade mini sausages with sauerkraut. All four sausages were different. There was this one that I particularly like, but I can't remember which one it was. Their sauerkraut is not very strong in taste, so I think most Malaysians can accept it, though I'd have prefer the taste to be a bit stronger.

We also ordered the crispy pork knuckle that comes with a salad, potato dumpling and sauerkraut. The pork knuckle was HUGE and was quite nice. Trying to get to all the "knuckly parts" was really challenging though *haha* There was the beer sauce and the apple sauce to go with the pork knuckle. For me, I think it goes better with the apple sauce. As for the potato dumpling, I don't really like the texture, and the taste was a bit bland.

Since we once again took AGES to decide on our dessert, the waiters decided to take out the cake that we brought. They put it on this tray sprinkled with powder sugar along with a pig figurine for the birthday girl and played "Happy Birthday" on the speakers with piggy oinks sound effects =P We were also given four mini glass of cocktail which tasted quite nice.

After A VERY LONG WHILE, we decided on the flourless chocolate cake with yogurt mousse and mixed nuts for dessert. I totally loved the yogurt mousse and mixed nuts! But the chocolate cake was a bit too sweet and rich for my liking, it gets jelak after a while.

All four of us shared the food and the bill came to be about RM50+ per person. I actually consider it to be rather pricey because I wasn't very full *hehe* Definitely not a place that can be visited often, but it's a nice place for special occasions =) If I ever go back, I'm going to get their roasted pork! Their plate smashing ritual looks so fun! XD

Kamunting Year End Trip

Went to Kamunting, Taiping to visit Madam Kang and her dogs for the second time 'round.
Didn't do much this time, but we got to dubbed a puppy 'Leo' =)

Lover-ly Birthday at Tenji

Just a day after the Malibu food trip, a bunch of us went for Japanese buffet at Tenji to ~~use up David's vouchers~~ celebrate Weng Howe and Shu Shan's belated birthday. There was a mini surprise at Desa ParkCity before all of us headed to Tenji =)

Malibu Day Trip

Made another trip to Melacca a.k.a. Malibu last week for food ^_^

This time it was with David, Shu Shan, Viran and Brian the driver.

First stop was Nyonya breakfast at Audrey's uncle's place.
I forgot the name of the shop, but the food is way nicer than Donald & Lily's.
We had nyonya laksa, mee siam, pai tee and some kuih I think it was called apam or something.

Viran's expression says it all "ORGASMIC!" XD

Boy boy David finally got his all time favorite chicken rice ball.
We ate at Hoe Kee (和记).
I actually prefer the normal rice because the rice ball's rice was too sticky for my liking.

Straight after that we bought durian puffs and had cendol at Jonker88.
This time I had the normal cendol which was quite nice except it didn't have peanuts in it =(
The durian puffs were just so so. It would have tasted nicer with more cream.

McDonald's new Milo McFlurry was next in line.
Totally ♥ it!
It just proves that anything with Milo will be good *LOL*

We had our third dose of desserts at Nadeje Patisserie Cafe ♥
This time we went to the one in Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall.
The seats there wasn't very comfortable, maybe because we got a crappy place.

We had the original, cheese and berry-berry strawberry ones.

After all that eating, it was time to do some touristy things.
*hehe*

T-Bowl Concept Restaurant

I've always wanted to visit the T-Bowl Concept Restaurant since it opened at Queensbay Mall in Penang but never got the chance =( They recently just open another branch at Sunway Pyramid so a few of us decided to have our lunch in the toilet XD

Their menu had a real toothbrush stuck on it *haha*
and some of the food names are a bit off like 一笃屎肠 which literally means a piece of shit -_-''
They even translated 'toast' to 多屎 (pronounced duo shi in Chinese, meaning a lot of shit =.=)

We sat on real toilet bowls.
It's not very comfortable to sit on for long hours I must say.

Ate at real sinks.
You can actually stick your fingers up the drain hole XD

Food are served in either toilet bowls, bathtubs or on toilet bowl covers.

The food is not very nice and the service isn't great either.
The waiters were blur and had problems understanding English.
They served ice cream before we finish our main course,
and said we should have told them beforehand if we wanted it later.
It's like WTF?! Common sense dude!
Basically you just go there and pay for the concept and experience.

IMPORTANT: Remember to make sure that the food is free from bacteria before eating =P

We have become a family of sisters cared for by our beloved mother Jaime ♥

Bad parenting

Mum and I went to Giant last week to pick up a few things. Soon after we walked inside, I saw a small little girl sitting in the trolley crying her lungs out. I saw her thrust her legs out, so I thought she was crying because her shoes fell off. Feeling sorry for the little girl, I decided to pick up her shoes and was going to wear it for her.

Before I got the chance to stand up properly from picking up the shoes, the little girl's mother came over and forcefully threw a whole bunch of stuff down into the trolley. She was clearly very mad. Then I saw the little girl pointing at the cookies, so I thought she's crying because her mum didn't want to get her the cookies. After seeing all these reaction from the little girl and the mum, I decided to put down the shoes and let the mum handle the situation.

After I stood up, I looked at the little girl again to make sure the mum was taking care of her. I admit that I might have been staring, and I think the little girl's mum was embarrassed by her crying toddler. Though what happened next totally shocked mum and I. The little girl's brother came over at that time, and the mother just slapped him in the face like really hard. There was no expression on the brother's face and he just kept on standing there. I think I was so shocked till my jaw dropped.

I just couldn't stop staring after that wondering what was wrong. Apparently mum told me the brother took away the little girl's toy or something, which was what started the tantrum. Seeing such horror unfolding in front of our eyes, mum and I decided it's best to just walk away and not be such busybodies.

I really cannot understand what made the little girl's mother so mad that she'd slapped the brother like that in public. I mean the poor kid was only like in his late primary school years or something, and judging from his behavior of not retaliating, he probably gets that quite often. I really don't understand how a mother can do such a thing. Mum said it was because we were there, and she lost face. But that is still not a good enough reason to slapped one's son in the face so forcefully.

I really hope I didn't bring that onto the poor boy for trying to help. Maybe I should just not be such a busybody next time *sigh* Some parents are just unbelievable. I really hope I don't end up becoming like that in the future.

Last Saturday was supposed to be a stay-at-home-to-study-and-nothing-else day, but a call for dinner got me excited ^_^ So off I went to Ong Lai (Goh Kee) Restaurant (旺来 (吴记) 饭档) in KL and ended up hanging out at Fabian and Amy's place till 11pm -_-'' I had more than enough pork lard to kill me that night and all those hours away from the dining table at home means hours away from studying =(

Since Saturday was a total failure, Sunday would definitely have to be D-Day! Alas, there was another call for lunch. I was a little reluctant to go because I really had to study, but ended up going in the end because my brother didn't want to go and mum would probably cancel if I didn't go. So the temptation of food and feeling bad for mum took over self-control >_<

We went to Yi Xiang Bak Kut Teh (益香绑线肉骨茶) since they were talking about it the night before, and was raving about their yam rice and their special tie-string bak kut teh.

I only took pictures after we finished XD So as you can see, their bak kut teh come in small little bowls with an aromatherapy-like heater thing instead of the usual claypot. You order according to what type of meat you want, and the mushrooms, tofu and vegetables count as side dishes. We only ordered the meat because one side dish was ~RM5. It's so not worth it if you compare it to the meat which is ~RM9.

Their rib was quite huge, but there were only like 4-5 pieces of it in one bowl. The other meat's portion was quite small also. The meat was firm though, having a slightly different texture from the usual bak kut teh meat, which I quite like. I think it's because they tie the meat when they cook it so the meat will stay together? *LOL* Their soup is the thick kind so you can't really drink a lot of it and the yam rice was just okay, not really worth paying ~RM2.50 for in my opinion.

It's seriously expensive refined gourmet bak kut teh -_-'' The total bill came to ~RM80 for 6 people. I guess it goes to the blueish gel fuel thing they use to heat the soup and air-conditioning that cools the marble on the chair that freezes your ass. In the end, Amy, Fabian and I came to the conclusion that the cheap Ah Ping Bah Kut Teh (梳邦阿彬肉骨茶) is nicer XD

In case you can't read, it says

So it was a full of pork lard dinner and a full of pork meat lunch. Eating out of some leadsafe bowl is so not going to make me any healthier. I'm so on my way to pork hell...I really don't know whether it was all that pork I had or because of the tandoori chicken and butter naan I had for dinner, I got food poisoning that night FML! I was suppose to be catching up on my studies but my stomach hurt so bad I couldn't concentrate T^T and the next morning wasn't any better either =( Urgh! Thankfully my stomach felt better after eating some porridge, and I could finally really study properly.

I now understand why gluttony is a sin.

You always hear people say it's hard to find someone who's got both the looks and the brains. But according to what I've been studying in my social psychology class and this article, people who are attractive get better grades, so it should actually be easy to find beautiful smart people.

After reading the article, I went to Google those beautiful smart people mentioned in the article to see if they are really that beautiful and smart, and I got rather obsessed with Lily Cole. Possibly because she's around the same age and actually really smart (straight A's for A-levels and first-class honors for her first and second year in university).

Evidence from Google Image proved that Lily Cole is indeed very beautiful,
in that unique model way anyway.

Mesmerized by her beauty and a sucker for artsy model shots, I did more Googling...

She has such a wide range of look and expression, it's just amazing.
No wonder she was awarded Model of the Year at the 2004 British Fashion Award,
and got nominated again in 2007.

She's earning a heck load being such a high status model *jealous* and she also does quite a bit of humanitarian and environmental work I think. So she's a pretty awesome person overall, though there is one thing that bothers me. If you really think about it, she's actually selling her body for a living (TOK moment! XD).

Is it justifiable though that it is for the sake of art and that it is actually a professional career? I mean isn't she already getting paid a fortune without having to bare it all? In case you are wondering, Playboy isn't that distasteful. The last three pictures are from Paradis, some French porn (go figure!).

HerbaLine Facial & Lohas Lunch

The two weeks after mid-sem break had been hell because of all the assignments >_<
I was really stressed for the whole two weeks! Thanks to mum, I got a nice treat in between =)

There was this 50% discount promotion for facial treatment at HerbaLine for senior citizen (HAH! mum is old XD), so mum wanted to go try it out with 二姨妈 (2nd aunt). Since I haven't had facials for such a long time, mum asked whether I wanted to go. Being so stressed out with assignments and all, I actually hesitated at the idea, but ended up going anyway because I figured I need to just relax and de-stress a little.

I chose the Deep Cleansing & Face Moisturizing Treatment (RM88) while mum and aunt got the Face Lifting & Moisturizing Treatment (RM130) for old people with sagging skin XD

The whole journey, as the photo suggest, starts once you enter through the door...

A mini foot-scrub session with sea salt before the facial treatment.

Sorry for the really bad quality photo, but it is the best I can do with my phone's shitty camera =( It really sucks under low-light condition. Once I got inside the actual room, everything just appeared black -_-'' So no more pictures from here onwards till I'm done =( But just so you know, the place has a very nice ambiance =)

After the foot-scrub, I was lead into one of those cubicle room thingys. I had to make do with this huge sarong thingy because they didn't have any smaller size -_-'' and I was a bit scared it might fall off so I decided to keep my bra on (I wasn't sure whether I was suppose to take it off in the first place =S You'll find out why in a while).

So it started with the usual facial wash, which was quite nice because their products have very nice herbal smell =) but the person I got wasn't very good with the face massage =( Then it was the steaming session, which I didn't really enjoy because there was too much vapor and I couldn't breath properly. Plus, the person didn't put the steamer properly before she left the room so it was only steaming half of my face -_-''

After the steaming session, she used this machine thingy with an irritating noise to exfoliate my skin. It felt like my face was being scraped gently (weird!). Then came the painful extraction part which I never liked during facials because it's painful, and my face always become red and blotchy after >_< It was actually still bearable at first, though after I told her it was OK, she used more force and it was SO painful T^T But it was all for the best I guess because she said my pores were super blocked =.=

A mask was used to moisturize and calm my skin after the painful procedure. I thought I'd be left alone to sleep while waiting for it to be done because I really wanted to just relax, but then she started massaging my arms, neck/shoulder and upper-back. It wasn't too bad at first since there was that nice herbal smell again and the neck/shoulder massage was really nice, though I have a feeling she secretly thinks I'm like a very old person because my neck/shoulder was VERY tensed. Anyway, I was enjoying the massage and all UNTIL........................she started moving her hands in front of my upper chest area and started to move towards my boobs =S

At first it was still OK because she wasn't really massaging my boobs but it already felt kind of weird. Then as she continued it got weirder because she was like patting or rubbing my boobs or whatever I don't know =S It really felt super weird especially because there was like a blanket and a towel on top and the fact that I left my bra on =S I wonder what it would feel like if I've had taken off my bra =\ Maybe I should try that the next time XD Before you start thinking that I got molested or whatever, I think it's actually normal because it reminded me of the time Camille told me how she went for a body massage and the masseuse started massaging her boobs. I thought it was pretty whacked when she told me, because she felt so weird she asked the masseuse to stop *LOL* I actually wanted to laugh when I thought of Camille, but it was too weird to laugh out loud so I forced it into a smile. I really don't know whether the girl realized I was smiling underneath my mask. It'd be so weird if she did, and thought that I was enjoying having her feel me up and getting turned on or something =S Anyway, enough of that.

Since the package I chose only had one mask treatment, it was all done after she washed off the mask and everything. I was given a really nice cup of lemongrass tea to drink afterwards and was asked to inhale three times in front of a pot of lemongrass aromatherapy thingy (weird!) *LOL*

They let you do the fish foot spa thingy after the facial.
It was my first time having little fishies nibbling at my feet. It felt a bit ticklish *hehe*

Had a healthy organic lunch at the Lohas Lifestyle Cafe next to HerbaLine after the whole thing.

Apple and Cabbage (or Celery?) Juice - RM6.90

There was no sugar added so it wasn't sweet. Can't say I like it because it was a bit tasteless and too "vegetable" for my liking. I was expecting something like the apple juice my brother had at Organic Vegetarian Fresh Mart and Restaurant the other day. Their apple juice was THE BOMB! Seriously like the BEST apple juice I've EVER had. But I guess you get what you pay for, RM9.90 for a SMALL glass of apple juice is a bit crazy -_-''

Baked Cheesy Mushroom Rice - RM10.90

It wasn't as good as I expected. In my opinion, there wasn't enough cheese and the mushroom wasn't as fragrant. The taste didn't seep into the rice, and the vegetables were rather bland. I prefer the Mushroom Fried Rice at Organic Vegetarian Fresh Mart and Restaurant more. It had that chao ta (烧焦 in Hokkien) burnt taste and was cheaper too.

At the end of the day,

After browsing 200 pages of icanread I still can't find what I want. Maybe it is in the remaining 125 pages, but I'm too tired to go through them today. I give up, for now. Maybe I just don't know what I want, that's why I can't find it. I will continue searching, maybe tomorrow, or the day after, or the day after that...when I'm free...hopefully I will find what I want, or I will just make my own.

I really don't have the mood to do my Organizational Psychology assignment due next week, which I actually should start doing because I won't have much of the weekend to do, but I just really don't feel like doing it now so here I am procrastinating by writing about my SAWsome Hari Raya Puasa.

Instead of going for people's open-house on Hari Raya Puasa this year,
four brave souls locked themselves up and watched ALL SIX SAWs straight in a row!!

because we just couldn't be bothered to go out for lunch.

We were all feeling very smug about our six SAW accomplishment.

Thanks like AGAIN *haha* for the SUPER DUPER belated birthday present ^_^

Talentime

I finally got to watch Talentime, another one of Yasmin Ahmad's movies. I actually skipped my Cognitive & Social Psychology lecture last Tuesday so I can watch the movie =P It was TOTALLY WORTH IT! It wasn't like I was going to learn anything useful in Dr. Tam's class anyway -_-''

Judging from the trailers shown on TV, I've always thought that Talentime was some sort of a comedy. Who knew it would turn out to be about love and death, or that was what I thought anyway. The movie had a morbid tinge to it. I guess with Melur's poems and the deaths, it is hard not to feel the morbidity of it all.

Despite all the darkness and despair, the movie managed to really touch me deep inside. Mukhsin had previously squeeze one tear out of me, but Talentime was totally another different story. I tried to hold back the tears but they just kept coming, so I gave up and let them fall. Thank god the lecture theatre was really dark, but I think the few people who were there all knew I was crying. Evelyn was totally making fun of me after the movie -_-'' Funny how I reacted so emotionally to a movie I couldn't understand much because half of it was in Tamil/Hindi and there were no subtitles. Maybe it reminded me of daddy. It made me miss him. Is it normal to still miss him? Or should he just be remembered but not missed? I really don't know the answers to those questions, but I guess I still miss him subconsciously all the time. The emotions just like to present itself during touching movies. I never used to cry during movies, and I don't really like the fact that I will now sometime cry, but I guess it is a good way of releasing my bottled up emotions.

The part where Melur couldn't sing started it all, but this part was the one that kept it going T^T

Love how this song managed to evoke so many different kinds of feelings in different context.

Here's something cheerier to end the post =)

p.s. I was in the same high school as Mahesh and didn't even know he acted in the movie till Davina told me about it XD

Makan Road Trip to Malacca

Once upon a time on Merdeka Day, 7 ~~patriotic~~ psychotic girls decided to go on a road trip to one of Malaysia's world heritage city — Malacca. They persisted on going despite warnings and signs of the evil balik kampung traffic.

The mini blue and red car started their journey early in the morning in hope that they will beat the evil traffic jam. In case you can't tell from the picture, yours truly was the Queen of Backseat in the blue car *muahahahaha*

The drive to Malacca was a rather perilous one with 'Faithful' Jeanette and SS Veronica driving even though the evil traffic jam did not show itself. Thankfully we reached Malacca in one piece *phew* And it was time to let the FPS (Food Positioning System) do its job since none of us are local XD

Our first destination was Donald & Lily the Nyonya restaurant. I thought I was in for a gastronomic treat since it was said to offer the best, but the mee siam, nyonya laksa and ayam pongteh did not even meet my basic requirement. No doubt just a tourist caterer.

For dessert, we headed to Jonker88 for cendol. I got the Eight Precious Cendol with everything in it *muahahahaha* I totally love the thick gula melaka but it sort of covered the taste of the coconut milk. I also didn't like the nutmeg and this other thing they put in it because it made the cendol taste a bit weird =S All that said, it was so much better than what we had over at Donald & Lily even though it was yet another tourist caterer. The shop's decor was also much nicer, maybe because of the lighting and the fact that they actually bother cleaning the decors once in a while.

The time came to walk around and camwhore, and to digest a little before we continue on our mission to eat =P We actually ended up walking past this one particular street like three or four times *LOL*

Only the masters of camwhores can think of doing it in front of the public toilet.

The day when the Queen of Backseat was also crowned the Queen of Imitation.

The rest camwhoring in the pretty Sweet Summer Cottage Handmade Soap shop...

...while I went to sniff every possible soap I can find in the shop *LOL*

I got the chamomile and chrysanthemum one in the end because the auntie at the shop was nice enough to sell me and Veronica the supposedly not-for-sale chrysanthemum soap ^_^

Sun Mei: *wei* You guys want 鸡蛋冰 or not?

Audrey and I: Huh? What 鸡蛋冰? Like egg-flavored ice?? =S

Sun Mei: No lar, like ice in the shape of an egg.

The Queen of Camwhore got skills!

Since the FPS was meant for locating food, we had a hard time navigating it to make it show us the way to where the Malacca Maritime Museum was on the other side of the river because we didn't know the road's name or what it was called at that time. It wasn't like we wanted to visit the museum, someone (I think it was Jeanette or maybe it was Sun Mei??) just thought it was a nice place to camwhore XD

We found our way there in the end by searching for Stadthuys assuming the museum would be somewhere nearby. I didn't know the red building was called Statdhuys because I've always thought that whole place is called A Famosa, which is actually a totally different place -_-'' I know my history/geography just rocks! XD

After trying so hard to find the way there and found parking, we decided not to go down because everyone was too hungry to walk in the hot sun. All of us skipped lunch because for some unexplained reason, nobody wanted to eat the chicken rice ball Malacca is known for *LOL*

This became our lunch instead ^_^

Thanks to Veronica and her awesome sense of direction, we managed to find the Nadeje Patisserie Cafe at Plaza Mahkota since the one shown by the FPS was in Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall and there were no more parking when we got there. For a moment I thought I was really not going to get my mille crêpe that I've been longing for since I found out about their existence =3

We got 7 different mille crêpes: chocolate, original, cheese (voted the most jelak of them all), mango yoghurt, berry-berry strawberry, double chocolate and coffee (all in order of my preference). The double chocolate really wasn't that nice, I was totally surprised at the difference between the chocolate and the double chocolate mille crêpe. It should actually be ranked the last along with the coffee one, but I'm just being a little bias =P Nontheless, I was totally in heaven~ I was stuffed so full of mille crêpe in the end because the rest got jelak after only halfway through. I really tried my best, but I could only finish off the chocolate, original, cheese and mango yoghurt (my top four preference ^_^). I would have finished off the berry-berry strawberry as well if my stomach didn't feel like it was going to burst >_<

Since we had Ah-Ma (阿妈) Jaime along with us, we were dragged to Tan Kim Hock (陈金福) to do some shopping. It is such an Ah-Ma thing to do =.= but I got to buy the satay shrimps that I haven't had for ages so I guess I shouldn't complain and be grateful to our lovely Ah-Ma =)

We stopped by Seremban on the way back to buy siew pao (烧包). We didn't know which shop was the famous one, so we randomly picked one of the shop from the FPS list XD It turned out to be not bad. Kudos to the FPS *LOL*

To substitute the satay celup that we didn't get to eat in Malacca (I was actually a bit disappointed because I've never tried it before), we had Kajang satay instead at Sate Kajang Haji Samuri. It was the biggest satay shop I've ever been to, like SERIOUSLY HUGE! The shop area was already really BIG and they had TWO FLOORS!!! Their satay was quite nice I guess, and their peanut sauce was good too. I love how they have the chili thing to add to the peanut sauce as not all satay shops have them. Another thing I really like about the place is that they have RABBIT SATAY!! ^_^ I haven't had rabbit satay since Satay Zul in Kuantan, and that was like a REALLY REALLY long time ago. I wanted to order their venison satay as well, but they ran out, so I only got the rabbit one *sigh*

I was the only one who ate the rabbit satay, hence was labelled the 'Rabbit Killer' -_-''

A big THANK YOU to all the drivers that day. I am so glad I didn't have to drive *hehe* Even Sun Mei drove, and Evie would have been one of the drivers as well if Veronica wasn't so paranoid about her being drunk the night before -_-'' Must also thank Ah-Ma's friend (whoever s/he is) for the FPS =)

A total EPIC MINDFUCKER!

I'm so glad that Inception was still being screened at the cinema when I finally decided to go and watch it. My brother and I were so mindfucked after the movie that we kind of forgot where we parked the car. I'm so getting the DVD so I can watch it again to catch everything else that I missed the first time around. Seriously a must watched for all those who likes to get their mind screwed over. I actually had some trouble sleeping that night after watching the movie because it just really messes with your head. Who is to say what is real and what is not?

The choreography and dances were AWESOME as usual. And Rick Malambri is HOT! HOT! HOT! But the storyline was just really not up to par with the first two. The fact that Nike's product placement was made SO obvious did not add to my liking either. Even the poster has the Nike shoes on it man -_-'' Nonetheless ♫ it made me feel like dancing, I want to dance the night away~ ♫

Little Angels at Petrosains

Trip to Petrosains with the kids from Angel's Home.

We visited them at their home last semester,
and they were coincidentally scheduled for a drama shoot.
This time around, we brought them out for a mini day trip ^_^

We took the Putra LRT to KLCC
while the kids ride in their own special van.

We stuffed the kids with Ramly Burgers again.

Michelle, Esther and Samantha before I joined them.
I totally forgot their names from the previous visit,
and was really surprised that Samantha remembered mine.

She "bullied" me throughout lunch,
just like she did during our previous visit to the home
and I joked that I didn't want to pair up with her because of that.

I guessed the girls took my joke seriously,
and I ended up pairing with Michelle.

Even though we had a great time,
I felt really bad for not going with Samantha,
especially after knowing a little more about her situation =(
I really hope she had an awesome time with the others,
though I felt her attitude towards me had sort of changed when I tried to talk to her again =(
I'm so sorry Sam...and we don't even have a picture together =(

It was actually my first time ever at Petrosains,
so I was naturally really excited and curious about everything =P

Some others on the other hand
clearly had better things to do *LOL*

This is by far the coolest picture taken from the trip!
I didn't even know such place existed till I saw this.
I totally missed it >_< along with a lot of other stuff actually
because we ran out of time and the kids had to go =(

Anyway, it was a really fun and meaningful day.
It always feels good to do something for others =)

We had more than enough photographers for that day.

Light up at i-City, eat up at New Boston Restaurant

The i-City trip on Merdeka Eve was suppose to be a Monash East Malaysians Society (MEMS) event (I know I'm not an East Malaysian but I joined the club anyway >_<). It ended up being more of an outing amongst ~~Leo Club~~ friends more than anything because of certain complicated reasons.

making me feel like I was on some crappy local tour -_-''

and the food was going to "take a while" thanks to the certain other person.

Fortunately, there was a bazaar around the corner.
We got apam balik, fried cempedak and keropok lekor
to temporarily hold off our hunger.
It was already 10.30p.m. by then I think,
and I swear I was going to rip someone's head off or kick someone in the balls
if I didn't get any food to eat soon.

This Lychee Blue drink was sold everywhere at the bazaar.
I call it the Avatar drink because of the color =P
Brian was soooo interested to try it, so he got one in the end.
It turned out to be just lychee cordial with blue coloring -_-''

The food finally came around 11+p.m.
I was already too starved to have any mood to eat =(
On top of that, the certain other person didn't know how to order.

There were THREE FRIED NOODLES:
Fried Hokkien Mee, Fried Kway Teow and Fried Tapioca Noodle.
There were also THREE DEEP FRIED PRAWNS:
Fried Mantis Prawn, Nestum Prawn and Fried Prawn.
ONE steam Lala Clam with NO FISH and NO SQUID at a fucking seafood restaurant.

Now who the fuck orders like this at a SEAFOOD restaurant??
PRAWNS are NOT the only SEAFOOD around!!

We were promised good food, but I was really unsatisfied >_<

Due to the VERY late dinner, I end up reaching home around 1a.m.
Mum wasn't really happy about it and I nearly got locked out
had my brother didn't wake up to open the door for me =(
Note to self: Always remember to bring keys if going out late.

AWESOME Whacking Session at Hee Lai Ton (喜来登)

Went to Hee Lai Ton at Puchong for ALL-YOU-CAN-WHACK lunch last Friday.

First up was Shark Fin's soup.
I really don't know whether there were any Shark Fin's inside XD

Black Pepper Pork

Don't know what vege this is, but I think it's yau mak
with this sauce that has a spicy tinge to it.
I think they added 腐乳 (fermented tofu) also.

Claypot Pork Belly with Salted Fish

Prawn with some sweet sauce, I don't know what it is (maybe Marmite).

Obvious enough, this is Fried Egg.
There was some stuff inside, but I can't remember what.

Steam Fish with garlic or ginger I can't remember.

I'm not sure which it is because this is the only thing I didn't eat.
I was already full and was saving what stomach space I had left for the other desserts.

花生糊 (Peanut Gruel?? =S)
This wasn't very nice because it wasn't thick enough.

锅饼 (Chinese Pancake with Lotus Paste)
This wasn't as nice as I expected also.
I think they didn't fry it properly so it ended up too oily.
And I learned a new way of eating this...dipping it in the 花生糊.
*LOL*
It didn't taste as bad as I thought it would >_<

After three hours of non-stop eating,
the guys were totally stuffed.
David was just trying to act cool *tsk tsk*

We were obviously much merrier
despite being stuffed up to our throats as well =P

We seriously ate A LOT that day.
It was totally worth it though for RM 27.80 nett/pax.

This TV ad has actually been on for quite some time now, but I just didn't have the time to blog about it. Since my Integrated Marketing Communications lecturer encourages us to watch more ads, I'm going to share one of my current favorite ad with you guys =)

This is the one they play in Malaysia. It is originally the Indonesian version.

Upon YouTube-ing for the one I saw on TV, I found out they have a Chinese version as well.

This is the Caucasion version.
Not sure which country it originated from or whether it was the first original version.
I find the kid's "ha-ha" in this version not as cute as the one in the other two version.

I have Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer on my computer. They all allow multiple tab browsing (like DUH! everybody knows that), which is really convenient when I want to Google multiple things at the same time, especially with so many different browsers. Today, I found out an even more epic way to multiple Google! XD from MY BROTHER (You happy now? -_-'').

Open up a browser and go to Google.
Search googlegooglegooglegoogle (that's google x4).
Click on the first search result and ta-da!

1 Google becomes...

...4 Googles...

...16 Googles...

Simply repeat steps 1-3 to get even more frames! My computer screen is pretty small so 16 Googles is the best I can do without it looking all messed up and weird. Try to open more frames if you have a bigger screen, it should look really cool XD

So with 1 tab opened in 1 browser I can get 16 Googles...
1 tab opened in 3 browsers will give me 48 Googles...
If I open multiple tabs in each browser, I'll get....???
You can do the maths =P

Tze Yuen's SUPER belated birthday

A super belated birthday celebration calls for a super belated post XD

A whole bunch of us celebrated Tze Yuen's birthday at Bubba Gump last month.
It was sort of a surprise because she didn't know there were going to be that many people.
*hehe*

We got her a lovely cake,
a Missy Micey Doodoll
and a card that didn't have everybody's signature yet =P

Thanks to the crew at Bubba Gump,
she had to shake her booty before she got her presents XD
Note to self: Choosing the right birthday celebration venue is very important! *LOL*
